Pre-K through First Grade

During this three year period, the overall goal is for students to explore CS through a series of challenges designed to 1) introduce them to concepts, skills and tools, 2) give them time to practice their newfound skills and 3) help them make connections with what they are learning across a variety of technology platforms and disciplines.

Students get a preview of computer science through the lens of storytelling and robotics.

Kindergarten

Once per rotation

Students are introduced to sequences, pattern recognition, loops, debugging and conditions (if/then).

Platforms: Kodable, Scratch Jr., Code.org, CS Unplugged, BeeBot

Once per rotation

Students are introduced to basic components of computer-based technology: input, output and power and continue to explore sequences, pattern recognition, loops, debugging and conditions (if/then).
