Days 8 & 9 - explore Paint.net

Paint.net is a photo editing software like Photoshop. Find an image and bring it into Paint.net. Explore the filters and other tools available on Paint.net. Save your work and upload to our Padlet

Day 7 - explore color

Explore the Color Calculator
  • Find a color scheme you like

Use that color scheme to make a background image in either:
  • Piskel
  • Pixlr

Add background image to our Padlet

Find a quote to go with your background and create a design in beFunky
  • Gratitude
  • Giving
  • Curiosity

Add inspirational image to our Padlet

Day 6 - explore typography

Graphic Design: Typography (video)

Pick an inspirational quote:
  • Anti-bullying Quotes
  • Kindness Quotes

Go to beFunky -> Designer

Templates -> Custom Template -> Freeform -> width:1200 & height:800

Search stock image library for an image that works with your quote and insert it.

Add text and copy quote in. Adjust font, size and placement as needed.

Save -> Computer

Day 5 - say something

Design a button for Unity Day!

Days 3 & 4 - explore digital arts tools

You will experiment with each of the following online image editing apps for 10 minutes each. I have a challenge for each, see if you can figure out the tool to make it happen.
  • Sketchpad (online) – notice what happens when you use the Fill option
  • Pixlr Express (online) – take a selfie and experiment with Effects, Overlay, Borders & Stickers
  • SumoPaint (online) – experiment with the symmetry & star tools and the wide variety of brushes
After exploring each tool, you will pick one to make a background image for your padlet. Be sure to export/save as a .PNG file.

Reflect: Upload your background image to our Padlet and write a reflection – What did you do? What did you learn? What could you improve for next time?

Finished early? If you didn't get a chance to finish trading card, do that now otherwise, you can create an animation with Piskel.


Days 1 & 2 - explore pixels

Plan a trading card & then create an avatar with pixels using Piskel. See video tutorial below for more info.
