Animating Landforms Project

Project requirements and guidelines
  1. This is an individual project.
  2. You must choose to animate either constructive or destructive forces, but not both.
  3. You will create a google document that identifies the landform(s) that you will illustrate, and the facts that will be a part of your animation.  You must have at least 6 facts for the viewer to see while they are using your animation.
  4. If you research facts beyond the information you learned in class, you must include a citation for your sources in your Google document and in your animation.
  5. Before you begin your animation, you will create a storyboard that shows at least 6 pictures to demonstrate the facts that will be a part of your animation.
  6. The assets (images) that will be a part of your animation must be created by you, not downloaded from the internet.

Creating the assets (images)

Create animated images
  • Remember you want 6 images per fact
  • If you are using Piskel & you want a smaller brush, select Resize and increase the height & width.
  • For animating, create first image then use the Duplicate this frame to copy and make slight changes to animate.
  • When you are ready to Export, be sure to update resolution to at least 600x600 and save a Zip file.
  • Use Google Draw to create fact assets and download as .PNG.

Animating the assets (images)

Animate your images
  • Create an account in SNAP! and put your login info in your google doc.
  • It is easiest to animate 6 images at a time.
  • Drag your animation images into sprite and make sure they are in order.
  • Create a start condition: what sprites need to show up and which need to hide and you start with the correct costume.
  • Use repeat next costume to play animate.
  • Create a new sprite & drag your fact image in
  • Use broadcast to trigger events between the sprites.
