Maya/Aztec/Inca Civilization Scratch Project
Project Highlights from Distance Learning
Choose a project and a civilization:

- Virtual field trip

- Inca - visit Machu Picchu
- Create a game OR tell a story: the end of the civilization
- Maya - tell the story of the Maya disappearance
- Aztec - tell the story of when Cortez conquered the Aztecs Cortez Video
- Inca - tell the story of when Pizarro conquered the Inca
Day 1: Make a plan
- Make a plan for your project:
- Copy this template
- Move your doc to your English/History google folder
- Pick your project/civilization and do some research
- Add details to your plan

- Make sure you have a Scratch account:
- If you already have one, make sure you can login to it and note your username
- If you need to create one, click here. Make sure your username includes your first name somewhere, but not your last name, school name or any other personal info. Don't forget to write your username and password down somewhere safe! If you do forget, send an e-mail to kwilkens@stab.org and she can reset your password.
NOTE: If you did the Soundscape project from your 5th grade Arts Studio, you may have already created a Scratch account.

Day 2: Set up your sprites and backdrops
- Check your plan to see if you have any comments to resolve
- Watch video tutorial (below today's exit ticket)
- We'll have a breakout room for watching the video. Please keep yourself on MUTE in this room.
- Please stay in the main room while working and ask questions here.
- Work on gathering/creating your sprites & backdrop images
- Use Scratch paint tool
- Use Piskel to create pixel image
- Use google search to find image. Be sure to copy website URL into your Image Citations at the bottom of your planning doc
- Add images into your Scratch project
- Complete the exit ticket for today!
Day 3: Use events to switch scenes & sprites
- Finish gathering/creating images for your sprites & backdrop images
- Watch video tutorial (below today's exit ticket)
- We'll have a breakout room for watching the video. Please keep yourself on MUTE in this room.

- Start coding events on your project. You can look at the code from my example here.

Day 4: Use sensing to add interactivity

Day 5: Wrap-up & reflect
- Work on your project
- Get some test feedback on your project
- If you think you are done, find someone else who is too and give each other "I like" and "I wish" feedback. Be sure to be specific about the feedback, so it's easy to know what's working and what needs to be updated.
